Set a Per-Practitioner Consultation Fee

Most facilities have one default consultation fee on the tariff — but a senior consultant, a visiting specialist or a professor often commands a higher rate. Rather than maintain parallel tariff lines, you give that one clinician their own consultation fee, and Veona uses it automatically whenever they are the attending provider.

Who / when: a billing manager sets this on a clinician’s record whenever a particular doctor should be charged at a different consultation rate from the standard one. Key terms: the tariff is your facility’s standard price list — the default consult fee lives there. An override is a single per-clinician consult fee that takes the place of the tariff price for that one doctor. A scheme is a payer / insurance contract with its own agreed prices.

Set the override

1. Billing Manager — open Admin → Staff Directory, then select the staff member to open their record. (This is a billing-manager task.)
2. Billing Manager — on the Details tab, find the Consultation Fee Override card. Its note reads “A per-practitioner consultation fee that overrides the tenant tariff when this clinician is the attending provider. Leave off to use the tariff.”
3. Billing Manager — turn the “Override Active” toggle on, then type the Consultation Fee in your normal currency (for example 8000).
4. Billing Manager — press the Save Fee Override button. Veona confirms “Consultation fee override saved.”

That clinician’s consultations are now billed at their own fee. Everyone without an override continues to use the standard tariff price — nothing changes for them.

How billing chooses the price

When a consultation is billed, Veona resolves the price in this order:

1. A payer / insurance scheme contracted price wins first — an insurance contract is never overridden by a per-doctor fee.
2. Otherwise, an active per-practitioner override on the attending clinician is used.
3. Otherwise (no scheme, no active override), the consultation falls back to the standard tariff price.

There is no percentage or multiplier — the override is a plain, fixed fee.

Caution

Be honest about the limits: only the consultation charge is overridable here — tests, procedures, medicines and bed-days are priced from the tariff as usual. The override is not retroactive (only future charges use it), an inactive override is ignored, and this screen does not show the baseline tariff for reference — check the Tariffs screen if you want to compare.

Turning it off

Open the same card, turn “Override Active” off, and save. The clinician immediately reverts to the standard tariff price; the fee figure stays on the record (greyed out) in case you switch it back on later — turning it off never deletes it.

What happens next

The override sits on the person and follows them wherever they consult, so finance never has to remember to apply a special rate by hand. Because a covered consult still defers to the payer scheme, the override never disturbs your insurance contracts.
