These are the terms and acronyms you will meet across Veona, grouped by area. Veona keeps these acronyms in their established casing wherever they appear.

UHIDUnique Health Identifier — Veona’s patient identifier (for example, VNA-12345).
MRNMedical Record Number — a record identifier for a patient.
EncounterOne episode of care — a visit, admission, or consult — that clinical records attach to.
RequisitionA single diagnostics request that can hold both lab tests and imaging, splitting into separate orders behind the scenes.

PHIProtected Health Information — health data about an identifiable person.
PIIPersonally Identifiable Information — data that identifies a person.
eSignElectronic signature — applying your identity to a record.
eSign PINThe 6-digit PIN you enter to sign a record; separate from your login password.
MFAMulti-Factor Authentication — a second sign-in step on top of your password.
OTPOne-Time Passcode — a single-use code sent by email or SMS, or used in a magic link.
mTLSMutual TLS — both sides of a connection present certificates to prove identity.

AOEAsk-at-Order-Entry — questions answered when a lab test is ordered.
QCQuality Control — checks that confirm lab results are reliable.

ISBTInternational Society of Blood Transfusion — the standard for coding blood units.
