Schedule a Telehealth Visit and Spin Up the Consult
Who / when: the Scheduler (or front-desk staff) books the video visit when a patient asks to be seen remotely; the Provider later runs the consult that this booking creates. A “telehealth visit” is an appointment whose type is video or audio rather than in-person — and behind it sits a LiveConsult, Veona’s single record of one 1:1 video consult.
Booking a telehealth visit is the same type-aware booking form you use for any appointment — you just choose the video type. The moment you do, Veona quietly creates and links one LiveConsult to the appointment. There is no separate “create a video room” step and no parallel object to keep in sync: the appointment and the consult are two views of the same booking. We will follow Amina Bello, who would rather not travel in for her follow-up.
- Scheduler — open Appointments → Booking. This is the one booking form with three outcomes (in-person, telehealth, or referral).
- Scheduler — on step 1 · Booking type, choose “Telehealth”. The later steps of the form change to match a video visit.
- Scheduler — pick Amina as the patient and the Provider who will see her, then set the date and time of the slot. Choose the Modality (Video or Audio) and type the reason for the visit.
- Scheduler — press “Schedule consult”. Veona books the appointment and, in the same action, creates one linked LiveConsult for it in the Scheduled state.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Amina’s appointment is now on the schedule and her LiveConsult sits in Scheduled, ready. The next steps are to send her the secure invite and a reminder cadence so she knows when and how to join, and then — when the time comes — for the provider to find the consult on their own schedule and start it. The consult you just created is the object that carries the visit from invitation all the way to a documented, completed encounter.
