Set Notification Preferences and Channels

Who / when: you, the patient, whenever you want to decide how your clinic nudges you about reminders and results — by WhatsApp, SMS, USSD or email. You pick a preferred channel in your settings and it persists: every content-free nudge from then on goes to the channel you chose, and the setting is still there next time you sign in.

A couple of words first. A channel is simply a way of reaching you — WhatsApp, SMS (a normal text message), USSD (the quick *…# menus that work on any phone, even without internet) or email. Your preferred channel is the one Veona uses by default. Every nudge is content-free — it tells you that something is ready and asks you to sign in, never putting clinical details into the message itself.

  1. Patient — sign in to your portal (see Sign In Passwordless With a Magic Link) and open Settings from the menu.
  2. Patient — in the “Profile” panel, find the “Preferred channel” row. It shows a dropdown with WhatsApp, SMS, USSD and Email.
  3. Patient — choose the channel you’d like. The change saves the moment you pick it — there’s no separate “Save” button — and it sticks: sign out and back in and your choice is still selected.
  4. Patient — scroll down to the “Channels” panel to see the contact points the clinic holds for you. Each row shows the channel and its address (for example your phone number or email), with a tag reading Verified or Unverified so you know which ones are confirmed.

What happens next: from now on, reminders and result-ready notices reach you on your chosen channel, content-free, with the details waiting safely behind your sign-in. Change your preferred channel any time and the next nudge follows the new choice — the setting persists until you change it again.
