Record Antenatal Care Visits

Antenatal care (ANC) is the series of check-ups a pregnant woman attends through her pregnancy. At each one, a midwife measures how the baby is growing, listens to its heartbeat, checks the mother’s blood pressure and weight, and decides whether the pregnancy is low-risk or needs closer watching. Veona keeps every one of these visits on the mother’s antenatal record, so the whole picture builds up over time and nothing is lost between appointments.

Who / when: the midwife (role midwife) or the obstetrician (the specialist doctor for pregnancy and childbirth, role obstetrician), each time an expectant mother comes in for a scheduled check-up. We’ll follow Midwife Funke seeing Mrs. Adeyemi, who is here for her routine antenatal visit.

  1. Midwife — open Maternity → Antenatal. The screen is titled “Antenatal visit”. If Mrs. Adeyemi has an existing antenatal booking it appears here; if this is her first visit you can start a fresh one.
  2. Midwife — pick the mother. Use the searchable patient picker: start typing her name or her UHID (Unique Health ID — her permanent hospital number, looks like VNA-…) and select her from the list. You never re-type her details; she was registered once and is found here. (If she has an existing antenatal record, you can pick that instead.)
  3. Midwife — record the visit findings: the gestation (how many weeks pregnant she is), her gravida and para (how many times she has been pregnant, and how many times she has given birth), the fundal height (the measured size of the womb), the fetal heart rate (the baby’s heartbeat), and her blood pressure and weight.
  4. Midwife — set the risk stratification — whether this pregnancy is low-risk or carries warning signs that need an obstetrician’s attention.
  5. Midwife — press “Save”. Veona confirms with “ANC visit saved”, and the visit is added to her antenatal record.

Each visit you save stacks up on the mother’s antenatal record, building a clear timeline of how the pregnancy is progressing. When labour begins, that same mother is admitted to the labour ward and her progress is plotted on the partograph. Along the way, any antenatal bloods or scans you order flow through the usual diagnostics route, and her newborn’s immunisations are seeded the moment the baby is registered.
