Front Desk

You are the first point of contact for every patient who walks in. Your job is to get people registered, into the right queue, and booked for the care they need.

Your role (front_desk) holds these capabilities:

  • Register patients — create and update patient records, mint a new UHID. (register.read, register.write)
  • Run the queue — issue and call tickets, move patients between service points. (queue.read, queue.operate)
  • Book appointments — create and reschedule appointments and telehealth slots. (appointments.read, appointments.write)
  • Author referrals — raise a referral on a patient’s behalf. (appointments.refer)
  • Look up patient demographics — find any patient to attach them to a visit. (patients.read)

UHID is the patient’s Unique Health ID (for example VNA-12345) — Veona’s permanent patient identifier.

You do not enter clinical results, prescribe, dispense, or change billing configuration. Those belong to clinical and billing roles. You can capture front-desk charges only if you also hold a cashier role.

  1. A patient arrives. Open Find Patient in Register, or create a record in New Registration if they are new — this mints their UHID.
  2. Issue a queue ticket on the Queue Board and route them to the right service point.
  3. For a planned visit, open Book Appointment in Appointments and choose the type (in-person, telehealth or referral).
  4. When a patient checks in, their visit becomes ready for the clinical team to pick up.
