Join a Telehealth Consult From the Patient App

Who / when: the Patient, signed in to the patient app, at the time of a scheduled video visit. When your clinician books a Telehealth appointment, Veona creates one secure video consult linked to it; this page is how you walk in the door. The clinician runs the consult from the same room on their side (see See the Consult on the Schedule and Start It).

A few words first:

• Telehealth consult — a one-to-one video visit with your clinician. There is exactly one per telehealth appointment, and its status is shared between your app, the clinic and the consult room.
• Join window — the period around your appointment time when the door is open. Before it, the room is not yet joinable; this is deliberate.
• Single-use room pass — when you join, Veona mints a one-time pass for your place in that consult’s room. It cannot be reused and it cannot open anyone else’s room.

We will follow Amina, who has a video follow-up scheduled for this afternoon.

1. Patient — sign in to the patient app (see Sign In Passwordless With a Magic Link) and open the Telemedicine tab. The screen reads “Telemedicine — Join your virtual consult with Veona Live.”
2. Patient — find your scheduled consult. Each card shows the date and time and your provider’s name. The Home tab also shows a “Consults — joinable now” count so you can see at a glance when it is time.
3. Patient — when you are outside the join window, the button reads “Not yet” and is not clickable — that is correct, the room simply is not open yet. Keep the tab handy; it becomes joinable on its own when the window opens.
4. Patient — when it is time, the button becomes “Join now”. Press it. Veona mints your single-use room pass and the video room opens right inside the app.
5. Patient — you are now in the same room as your clinician. Allow your camera and microphone when the browser asks, and your consult begins.
6. Patient — when the clinician ends the visit, the consult shows as completed on your side, and the call closes.

Note

You always meet in the same room — and only that room. The pass the app mints is scoped to your consult’s video room and is good for a single join. Your clinician holds a token for the very same room; there is no way to land in another patient’s call and no way for anyone to reuse your link. Caution

If the Telemedicine tab is not showing, your facility may not have telehealth enabled — the tab appears only when the clinic is entitled to Veona Live. And if you do not see a consult listed, your clinician has not scheduled one yet; the screen says so: “When your clinician schedules one, you can join here.”

Tip

A quiet spot, a steady connection and good light help a lot. You can join from a phone, tablet or computer browser — whatever you signed in on.

What happens next

While you talk, your clinician documents the visit into your medical record, and any prescriptions or test orders they make flow to the pharmacy and laboratory just as they would from an in-person visit. After the consult, any results released to you appear under Results, instructions your clinician sends appear under Care, and a recording (if your facility kept one, with consent) is available where shared.
