Capture Patient Consent in the Portal

Who / when: you, the patient, whenever you want to say yes or no to something — receiving result-ready notices, showing sensitive results in the portal, allowing a consult to be recorded, or getting health-campaign messages. You make the choice in your portal settings, and it persists — it stays exactly as you left it the next time you sign in, on any device.

A quick word on what “consent” means here. Each consent is a single scope — a specific permission you grant or withhold. Turning one On means “yes, I’m comfortable with this”; turning it Off means “no, please don’t”. Nothing is buried in fine print: each is a plain switch with a plain label, and you can change your mind any time.

  1. Patient — sign in to your portal (see Sign In Passwordless With a Magic Link) and open Settings from the menu.
  2. Patient — scroll to the “Consents” panel. You’ll see your choices laid out as rows, each with an On / Off button:
    • “Receive result-ready notices” — let the clinic nudge you when a result is ready to view.
    • “Show sensitive results in the portal” — choose whether more sensitive results appear in your portal or are held for a conversation with your clinician first.
    • “Allow my consult to be recorded” — say whether a video consult may be recorded.
    • “Receive health campaign messages” — opt in or out of general health-awareness messages.
  3. Patient — tap the button on any row to flip it. It switches between On and Off immediately and saves on the spot — there is no separate “Save” step to remember.
  4. Patient — that’s it. Sign out and back in whenever you like; each switch will be exactly where you left it.

What happens next: your saved consents quietly shape your experience from then on — which notices you receive, which results you see, whether a consult can be recorded. Change a switch any time and the new choice takes effect at once and persists. Every change is part of your record, so there’s always a clear, honest history of what you agreed to and when.
