View Consults and Join From the Portal
Who / when: the Patient, when they have a telehealth (video) consultation booked. The portal’s Telemedicine area lists your scheduled video consults and lets you join the call from your own browser — no app to install, no meeting link to hunt for in your email. When it’s time, you press one button and you’re in the same video room as your clinician.
Your video consults shown here are real: each one is the same consult your clinician sees on their telehealth board, so the status you see (scheduled, in progress, completed) always matches theirs. When you join, the portal gives you a single-use pass just for you and connects you to the same room as your clinician — there is no shared link that anyone else could reuse, and your pass can’t reach any other room.
- Patient — sign in to the patient portal (see Sign In, Reset and Recover a Portal Account).
- Patient — open Telemedicine from the portal home. Your scheduled video consults are listed, each showing your clinician and the time. “When your clinician schedules one, you can join here.”
- Patient — when it’s time, press “Join now” on your consult. (Before the join window opens, the button reads “Not yet” — that’s normal; it becomes “Join now” as your appointment approaches.) The portal connects you to the video room and your camera and microphone go live.
- Patient — talk with your clinician just as you would in person. When you’re finished, press “Leave consult” to exit the call.
What happens next: you and your clinician meet in the one video room; your clinician documents the visit into your record and ends the consult when you’re done, at which point the portal shows it as Completed. The full appointment-to-join path — and the matching experience in the standalone patient app — are covered in Let the Patient Join From the Portal and Join a Telehealth Consult From the Patient App.
