Reschedule or Cancel an Imaging Study
Who / when: the Radiographer managing the imaging schedule, when a booked scan needs to move to another time or be called off altogether — a machine goes down, a patient can’t make it, or a study is no longer needed. The goal is a clean, recorded change and a patient who is told their appointment moved, without any clinical detail leaking out.
A scheduled imaging study sits on the worklist waiting to be acquired. Until the images are taken, you can reschedule it to a new time or cancel it outright. Either action is persisted — a cancelled study leaves the schedulable list and can’t quietly come back — and a reschedule sends the patient a content-free heads-up so they know to come at the new time.
- Radiographer — open Imaging → Imaging Worklist. Scheduled and arrived studies appear here alongside those waiting to be reported. Find the study you need to change.
- Radiographer — open the study’s “Preview” drawer. For a study that hasn’t been acquired yet, the drawer offers “Reschedule” and “Cancel study”.
- Radiographer — to move it, choose “Reschedule” and set the new date and time, then confirm. The study keeps its place on the worklist at the new slot, and the patient is sent a content-free notice — “Your imaging appointment has changed” — telling them the appointment moved without naming the scan or any reason.
- Radiographer — to call it off, choose “Cancel study” and confirm. The study is marked cancelled and persisted: it drops out of the schedulable worklist and can no longer be rescheduled, so there is no risk of it lingering as a half-cancelled booking.
What happens next: a rescheduled study waits on the worklist at its new time and proceeds normally when the patient arrives; a cancelled study is closed out and recorded. Every reschedule and cancellation is written to the audit trail, so the schedule’s history is always clear, and the modality worklist (the list pushed down to the scanner) reflects the change so equipment and Veona stay in step.
