Imaging & PACS
The Imaging & PACS module runs the radiology workflow end to end. A radiographer acquires the images; a radiologist reads them, authors a structured report, and signs it. Imaging orders arrive from prescribers via the chart or the Diagnostics Suite. DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) is the image and study standard; PACS is the picture archive the viewer reads from.
Who uses it
Section titled “Who uses it”- Clinicians and nurses order studies and read released reports. They reach the worklist, viewer, and released reports.
- Radiographers acquire and store the DICOM study.
- Radiologists author and sign reports and manage critical findings.

Schedule an imaging exam
Section titled “Schedule an imaging exam”Imaging Scheduling books exams into modality rooms. The page is titled Study Scheduling — “Book imaging exams into modality rooms — the live modality worklist.”

The board shows the day’s studies by time, room, modality, patient, exam, and status; the readouts count Studies Today, Scheduled, In Progress, and Utilisation. Filter by room.

Press Schedule Exam and, in the dialog, fill Patient & Order (patient, ordering clinician, procedure) and Slot & Priority (room, time, and a priority of Routine, Urgent, or STAT), then Book Exam.

To move a study that has not yet been acquired, press Reschedule and give a new date, time, and reason.
Radiographer: acquire the DICOM study
Section titled “Radiographer: acquire the DICOM study”-
The ordered study appears on the Imaging Worklist.

Acquire the images on the modality. The modality pushes the study to Veona via DICOM C-STORE; the Studies screen lists acquired studies, and the order advances to an acquired state ready for reporting.
The modality receives the order itself through MWL (the DICOM Modality Worklist that pushes the order down to the equipment), routed by Veona Connect.
Review images in the PACS viewer
Section titled “Review images in the PACS viewer”The PACS Viewer is where images are read. Open a study from the worklist, the studies archive, or the report screen.

The Series rail lists the study’s series; choose a layout (1x1, 2x2, or 1x2) to view several at once.

The toolbar carries the reading tools: Pan, Zoom, Window / level, Measure, ROI (region of interest), Annotate, Rotate, Invert, and Key Image to flag a representative frame. A cine scrubber plays through a stack with Play, Prev, and Next.

Switch the view mode between Stack, MPR (multi-planar reformat), and 3D. MPR adds Crosshairs, a MIP (maximum-intensity projection) toggle, and a slab-thickness slider; 3D offers rendering presets.

Compare Prior loads a patient’s earlier studies alongside the current one, with a hanging protocol and Scroll, W / L, and Zoom + pan sync between panes.

Generate DICOM SR saves your measurements to the study as a DICOM structured report. When you are ready to report, press Report Study.
Radiologist: author the report
Section titled “Radiologist: author the report”-
Open Report Authoring. The page is titled Radiology Report and shows the structured report for the study’s accession and patient.

Use Open Images to view the DICOM images in the viewer without leaving the report. Apply a template from Report Templates if you wish.

Fill the Assessment Category (Normal, Benign, Probably Benign, Suspicious, Highly Suspicious, or Critical), then the Findings and Impression (both are required to sign).

Press Sign & Finalise. The confirm dialog appears; enter your 6-digit eSign PIN (your electronic signature, separate from your password) and press Sign Report.
Critical-findings read-back (closed loop)
Section titled “Critical-findings read-back (closed loop)”-
Open Imaging Critical Results. Pending findings are listed.

Open a pending finding (or use the notify action). Choose the Method (Phone Call, In Person, or Secure Message) and record the read-back — what the ordering clinician repeated back to you.

Submit. The row moves Pending → Notified → Acknowledged, and the channel, recipient, and read-back are audited. No clinical content leaves in the notification itself.
Released reports for the ordering clinician
Section titled “Released reports for the ordering clinician”Once signed, the report is released to the ordering clinician and added to the patient record. The ordering clinician reads it from the patient’s chart, and the study images remain viewable in the PACS Viewer.
Manage report templates
Section titled “Manage report templates”Report Templates holds the structured templates radiologists start from. The page is titled Report Templates — “Structured reporting templates by modality, used on the Report screen.”

Browse templates by modality and status (Published, Draft, Retired), or search by name.

Press New Template and give it a name, modality, status, and its default Technique, Findings, and Impression, then Save Template.

Edit or Delete a template from its row. Deleting one removes it from the template picker on the report screen.
Enable the imaging catalogue
Section titled “Enable the imaging catalogue”Imaging Catalogue controls which imaging procedures your facility offers. The page is titled Imaging Catalogue — “Enable the procedures your facility offers — order entry only shows enabled ones.”

Browse the full procedure catalogue, filtered by modality or searched by procedure, code, or body region. Each row shows its code, modality, body region, and whether contrast is used.

Toggle a procedure Enabled on or off. Only enabled procedures appear in order entry.
Managing the catalogue needs the imaging-management permission; other users see it read-only.
Teleradiology and remote reading
Section titled “Teleradiology and remote reading”Teleradiology sends studies to remote readers and shares images with patients. The page is titled Teleradiology — “Assign studies to remote readers and share images with patients.”

Register your remote readers first: Add Reader captures the reader’s name, specialty, and contact, then Save Reader.

Under Assign a Study, choose the study, the reader, and a priority, and press Assign. Share This Study with the Patient creates a time-limited link the patient can open to view the images.

Track each assignment in the history — mark it Reported when the reader returns the read, or Cancel it.
Imaging settings
Section titled “Imaging settings”Imaging Settings configures how the module behaves. The page is titled Imaging and PACS Settings — “Configure imaging and PACS, access, and audit.”

Under Imaging and PACS Preferences, toggle structured reporting, remote reporting, and auto-route by modality.

Under Worklist, set the modality worklist row limit.

Under Access & Audit, set role-based access, audit-every-action, and offline-first options.
Imaging reports and analytics
Section titled “Imaging reports and analytics”Imaging Reports is a read-only operational summary of the department. The page is titled Veona Imaging and PACS — Reports — “Operational analytics and exports for imaging and PACS.”

The readouts summarise Studies, Unreported, Reported, Reports Signed, and Criticals Open, with breakdowns By Modality and By Status.
