Keep Telehealth Status Consistent Everywhere
Who / when: everyone who touches a video visit — the Scheduler who books it, the Provider who runs it, and the Patient who joins it. This is less a task than a guarantee: because a telehealth visit is one consult rather than several copies, the status you see is the same status everyone else sees, on every surface, all the time.
The risk with telehealth is three systems disagreeing — the schedule says one thing, the provider’s board another, the patient’s portal a third. Veona avoids that by keeping a single LiveConsult as the one source of truth. Appointments, Veona Live, and the patient portal all read that same consult, so its status — Scheduled, In Progress, Completed, or No-show — is identical wherever you look. There is nothing to reconcile because there is nothing to keep in sync.
- Scheduler — open Appointments → Schedule and find the telehealth visit. The booking reflects the consult’s current state — a freshly booked visit shows as scheduled.
- Provider — open Veona Live → Telehealth Board and find the same consult. It shows the same status the scheduler sees, because it is literally the same consult, not a copy.
- Patient — open the Telehealth area of the portal. The consult appears with the same status again, and its join control reflects exactly that state.
- Anyone — when the visit moves on — the provider starts it, the patient joins, the visit ends — the change lands on the one consult, so all three surfaces update to the same new status together.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”There is no further step — consistency is the steady state, not a thing you finish. Whether someone reschedules the visit, the patient is a no-show, or the consult completes, the one canonical status carries that truth to the scheduler, the provider, and the patient at once. An auditor reviewing the visit sees a single coherent history, not three records that have to be argued into agreement.
