Top Up a Wallet and Pay Invoices
Who / when: the Patient, signed in to the patient app, who wants to check what they owe, keep a prepaid balance handy, or pay an invoice without queuing at the cashier. The same money the clinic’s finance office tracks is what you see here — there is no separate “patient ledger” to reconcile.
We will follow Amina, who has a bill from her last visit and wants to clear it from home.
- Patient — sign in to the patient app (see Sign In Passwordless With a Magic Link) and open the Bills tab. This is your “My bills” screen: a wallet card at the top, then your invoices below.
- Patient — read the “My wallet” card. It shows your prepaid balance in the clinic’s currency (for example
NGN 5,000.00) — money you have already put on account that you can spend against any bill. The card notes it plainly: “Prepaid balance you can pay bills from.” - Patient — to add money, choose a payment provider in the wallet card (Paystack, Flutterwave or Mobile money), type a “Top-up amount”, and press “Top up”. A secure checkout opens; once your payment clears, your wallet balance rises. (Veona never stores your card — payment happens at the provider.)
- Patient — look down the invoice list. Each invoice shows what it is for, its number and issue date, the balance, and a status pill (for example Paid or Unpaid). An invoice with nothing left to pay shows no payment buttons.
- Patient — for an invoice that still has a balance, you have two ways to pay it:
- Press “Pay online” to pay that invoice directly through the payment provider’s checkout, or
- Press “Pay from wallet” to settle it instantly from your prepaid balance.
- Patient — when a wallet payment succeeds, the app confirms “Paid from your wallet,” the invoice balance drops, and your wallet balance reduces by the amount paid.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”Your payment posts straight to the clinic’s billing records, so the invoice shows as settled for you and for the finance office at the same moment. If you topped the wallet up, the remaining balance stays on your account, ready for the next bill. Receipts and other documents the clinic shares with you appear under the Documents tab.
